How do I set my email block/spam setting so I only receive emails from my contacts?

I can’t see an option in yahoo to only receive mail from contacts, and it seems stupid to me I have to enter or block addresses seeing as spammers use different addresses everytime. Surely the simple thing to do rather than block an infinite number of fake spam addresses would be to block everyone that’s not a contact. Is there any option to do this?

I agree that the facility should be there preferably with a wild card feature so that correspondence with an organization need not require extra hassle when being shuffled from the proverbial pillar to the movable post. Meanwhile, here is something that might work for you.
Have you considered using the disposable address facility, with a filter based on the To address used in the received mail?
You may need to experiment to get this to suit. What you want is
- junk (and the inevitable false positives) in the spam folder by turning on the spam filters.
- messages to [basename]-[keyword]@yahoo.co.uk filtered to [keyword] folder
- rest in your inbox.
Then, you can deal with the [keyword] folder first as these come from people to whom you have given the address. As an aside, use more than one of these for different purposes so that the few filters employed automatically sort the messages into friends, family, business, facebook, yahoo groups etc….
If you have the time, look in the Inbox folder for new spam which you can report with the spam button; or new good guys who need to be given the secret email address.
Finally, when a missing message is brought to your attention, check the spam folder for any false positives that need to be “not spam”med and the originators added to your address book.
Should the above be useful, may I suggest two further options to frustrate the spammers.
One requires a bit of research on your part to check out knujon and spamcop. If you like the idea as I do, then you could do as I do and use Thunderbird with the knujon extension to send the spam to them.
The second is more contentious and only really works with scammers. They need your reply for their scam to work. So send them a reply telling them politely that you do not want their attention. This will fill up their inbox and waste their time processing unproductive emails. It cant be spam because they solicited it!
But heed this, do not taunt scammers unless you are an adult and prepared for the consequences!
